Adrenaline Pumping Hobbies

Sure, reading, writing, and yoga are great hobbies. They are relaxing, and the results that can be produced are incredible!

But some hobbies are not only a little more unusual but give you a big adrenaline boost every time you do them.

There are a few of the big ones, like jumping out of planes and bungee jumping. But they make most adrenaline lists. So let’s look at some more unusual ones!

Some hobbies are easier to access from specific geographic locations, but a little travel (when it is safe) never hurt anyone!

Rollercoasters

Theme parks and rollercoasters are a great way to meet those adrenaline needs. What makes rollercoasters so much fun is that you can turn your rollercoaster love into travel – and go around the world trying all of the best rollercoasters out.

It is worth remembering that rollercoasters, like most adrenaline-inducing activities, aren’t risk-free. If anything happens – you have options like trustworthy personal injury attorneys who specialise in theme park accidents.

The coolest rollercoasters to add to your list:

  • Formula Rossa at Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi
  • Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point at Sandusky, OH
  • Dodonpa at Fuji-Q Highland in Yamanashi, Japan
  • Red Force at Ferrari Land Salou, Spain

Glass Floors

Glass floors are usually enough to send people wobbly-legged back to the ‘safe’ edge. But they are one of the most enjoyable – and Instagram-worthy activities to take part in.

Glass floors can now be seen in glass-bottom swimming pools across the world.

Skywalks and glass floors are perfect for those who don’t like the idea of jumping from a plane but want to experience what it feels like to ‘float’ in the air.

The most popular skywalks and glass floors:

  • The Ledge at the Willis Tower Skydeck, Chicago
  • Dachstein Glacier Skywalk, Dachstien Glacier, Austria
  • Skytree, Tokyo
  • Step Into the Void, Chamonix, France

This isn’t one for the faint of heart! A lot of mind over matter will come into play.

Storm Chasing

Bad weather isn’t something that should be trifled with without a deep understanding of it. That said, some of the most beautiful photographs in the world are taking by storm chasers.

Tornado Valley – a massive area in the south-central USA, is known for atoms from April to June.

It is so popular that there are storm chasing tours available to experience this with professionals.

Cage Diving/Scuba Diving

If you live a reasonable distance from a suitable coastline, then cage diving or scuba diving might be the perfect adrenaline-pumping experience for you.

Cage diving involves heading into a cage and being plunged into the water. Typically the water will be filled with sharks or other sea life.

There are two different types of cage diving so that you can choose your comfort level.

Surface cage diving only requires a snorkel and some water-appropriate clothing. The cage will ‘float’ just below the water and allow you to get a great view of the surrounding animals.

The second requires scuba gear like oxygen tanks, and the cage is plunged further into the depths. These cages can go all the way to the seabed in some areas.

This is a great hobby to have and can be combined with learning how to scuba dive safely.

The best cage diving across the globe:

  • Western Cape, South Africa – Bronze Whaler and Great Whites
  • O’ahu, USA – Sandbar sharks and Galapagos
  • Farallon Islands, USA – Great White Sharks

MMA

Mixed Martial Arts or any martial art from Kung Fu to Tae Bo can be one of the healthiest and most exciting hobbies you can choose.

Martial arts, in general, are a social sport, so you will be surrounded by new people at different levels of learning.

Tip: read tips for taking care of your body to help you get in the best shape ever.

The adrenaline for any martial arts comes from a few places. You might choose to go forward and compete.

In which case, you will be against opponents that have a similar skill level to you. The nerves and excitement will come into play as the big day arrives.

The other is gradings. When you are graded, you will be judged on how well you perform each of the moves. Gradings, in some cases, will give you higher colour belts and allow you to move up a level in your learnings.

A little bit of adrenaline every once in a while is an excellent reminder of how alive we are and all of the exciting experiences we can have!
